DIY: Pinwheel Accents

Hey everyone!

Today I want to share a really simple DIY project with you that can be used in so many different ways! These adorable pinwheels can be made of any paper and buttons to match the style of your wedding. I love them on a place setting, chair, or napkin to add that fabulous something extra that will take your wedding design to the next level.

What you'll need
1. scissors
2. paper in your choice of color or pattern
*regular thickness - you do not want to use thicker card stock type paper. It won't work.
3. buttons
4. double sided tape
5. hot glue gun

Instructions
Step 1: Cut paper into 2 strips of equal widths. The skinnier the strips, the smaller the pinwheel will be; the thicker the strips, the larger the pinwheel will be.

Step 2: Accordion fold the paper back and forth.

Step 3: Using double sided tape, connect the pieces end to end creating a circle of paper.

Step 4: Press circle down and outward into the general shape of a pinwheel.

Step 5: Using your hot glue gun, secure button in the center.

*You may need to hold the button in place for a few moments until the glue dries. I used a metal bangle and placed it on each pinwheel to help it keep its shape, just until I was finished with the next.

If your wedding or event has a more eclectic or southern style, use a mixture of papers and buttons....

If you are having a more modern wedding and still like the idea of using this DIY project, simply choose paper in a solid color or a bold print (think chevron or stripes) and a shiny plastic black button. It would be equally fabulous!

Just one way these can be used....

FYI: I've also clustered these in mass and they're even more fantastic. You can create a backdrop for a dessert table or an incredible hanging installation that would create a focal point to die for.

Hey everyone!

I had the immense pleasure to design a bohemian photo shoot earlier this month and I just can't wait any longer to show you a TINY sneak peak....

The wooden structure that we had built, created the perfect focal point for our design. Hanging from the peak is an antique brass light pendant, and on the wooden pedestal table we have an amazing array of flowers by Tanarah in copper and cobalt blue thrifted containers.

This turned out exactly as I had imagined. And the images with our models are absolutely breathtaking! I cannot wait to show you more...Unfortunately, I have to wait until we have been accepted or rejected by the magazines and blogs we've submitted to. Until then, belt out a little Bohemian Rhapsody with me...

Sherri & Ryan's Bold Fayetteville Wedding

Hey everyone!

I started working with Sherri eight months ago to design her perfect modern wedding. Although Ryan spent most of that time overseas serving our country in the Army, Sherri wanted his opinion on almost every aspect of the wedding design. Through emails and phone calls, they made every decision together. They chose a bold red and purple color scheme and we ran with it using incredible linens, sleek spandex chair covers, and dramatic lighting to complete the design. The Clinton Presidential Library was the perfect setting for their reception. The food and drinks were phenomenal and Tragikly White kept the dance floor packed all night long. Enjoy...

For their get away, they chose a "Shaker Send-Off". The groom went to school at Alabama and the bride at Arkansas, so guests chose Shakers from one or the other schools to wave as the bride and groom made their exit...

Kaylen Revels and Patrick Lewis were married at the end of July in a touching ceremony at Covenant Presbyterian Church in Little Rock, Arkansas. After saying "I do", they danced the night away with their friends and family at the Clinton Presidential Library.

To start off the week, I want to share the beautiful details of their day with you. I worked with KK and Patrick for nearly a year to design their day. Beginning with a soft color palette and classic style, we assembled some of the best vendors in the state to create the perfect vintage infused day for them. Feast your eyes...

Of all of the gorgeous details from Kaylen & Patrick's vintage inspired day, the tablescape design tops them all as my favorite element of their wedding design...

We began with long king's tables and covered them in gold linens. Then we topped them with a vintage lace runner and gold chiavari chairs. Distinctive Designs by Tanarah created the absolutely beautiful centerpieces that brought the entire design together. This beautiful table is one of my all time favorites!

Sarah and Jordan were married on Saturday in a sweet summer wedding at East Square Plaza in Fayetteville. Jordan's family & friends flew in from Alaska to be there with him. And both families embraced their union beautifully!
Sarah and her mom brought in Finishing Touch to coordinate the week of their wedding and to make sure things happened perfectly. So I can't claim any responsibility for the design of the wedding, it was all them! And I think it turned out as sweet as can be. Kimberly and Adam chose to have their ceremony on the rooftop terrace at Pleasant Valley Country Club. And it was a fabulous choice! In spite of the heat, their ceremony produced some of my favorite images of the day. But before we get to those, I want to share just a couple of photos from their first look...

Major kudos go out to the staff at PVCC. Their servers brought out glasses of water on trays to the guests as they waited for the ceremony to begin. It was a huge relief from the heat! If you're planning an outdoor ceremony in the summer in Arkansas, I highly recommend you ask your caterers to do this. Your guests will thank you!

Before I go for today, I want to share my favorite portrait of the day. After the ceremony, the newly weds snuck away for a quick photo session as husband and wife. And the results are magic...

Stacia and David's Mount Magazine Wedding

Stacia and David were married this summer on a beautiful Overlook at Mount Magazine State Park. It was my first wedding there and the views were absolutely breathtaking. I can't imagine a more beautiful place to say "i do".

As Stacia and I planned her big day, it was obvious from the beginning that her focus was on the words she would say and the moments of the day. So after choosing the location and the colors, she let me take control of the flowers and design. We created for Stacia and David a reception full of beautiful textural linens under a pavilion and modern floral designs. I chose amazing almond contour linens from BBJ to bring in the softness of the outdoors. I used a graphic black and white ribbon to add modern details and white containers to keep things light and summery. Feast your eyes...

I think it's safe to safe, everyone had a blast! Congratulations to Mr. & Mrs. Davis!! You will have a wonderful life together.

Ashley & John's Stunning Ceremony

Ashley & John's ceremony took place at their home church - The Cathedral of St Andrew - in downtown Little Rock. This is one of the most beautiful churches in the city and we added to the atmosphere by choosing to include a choir in the wedding plans. St. Andrew's choir sounds truly angelic and they provided the soundtrack for Ashley & John's ceremony. It was beyond perfection!

Vendor Love: Almost Famous

At Ashley & John's wedding last weekend I had the pleasure of working with one of the best bands I've ever seen at a wedding. Almost Famous is a 4 member band from Memphis, Tennessee. I rarely dedicate a blog post to a wedding vendor, but I was so impressed with Almost Famous that I had to share them with all of you!

So many brides feel like they have to have a BIG band (8-10 members) to have a great band and that's not necessarily the case. If they're talented, they can produce a big sound without a dozen members. And Almost Famous does just that!

Not only are they unbelievably entertaining (the dance floor was absolutely packed all night long), but they're nice, affordable, and dependable (on time and sober!). I can't say enough great things about them, but I will say one more thing... They played Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody! Enough said.

Sweet Sweet Words

I just received this very sweet review from the new Mrs. Kaylen Lewis and just had to share it...

Jessica and the Finishing Touch Event Design team gave my husband and I our dream wedding, and I know it would not have been possible if they would not have been there. We planned our wedding over the past year, and she was with us every step of the way and helped make our dream wedding come to life. On the day of the wedding, she took care of everything, and I had no worries at all! I was able to hang out and get ready with my bridal party all day and never had to worry about the decorations, cake, etc. I think the best compliment of all for Finishing Touch Event Design was from some of the groomsmen because who knew groomsmen even notice the wedding planner! They said that "she was awesome and so laid back but still got the job done without being bossy." Choosing to use Finishing Touch Event Design was one of the best decisions I made while planning our wedding, and I would highly recommend them to anyone!

In spite of the unseasonably cold weather on May 14th (48 degrees!) we had a beautiful outdoor reception for the newly weds. Set up on our Papa's farm (a REAL farm - we literally had to chase cows out of the pasture earlier in the day!), they had BBQ, lights, a band, and much more for their guests to enjoy!

It was an absolutely beautiful night! And I've had a few people tell me that it was such a great wedding and if the weather had been warmer "we'd still be out there"! That's a good sign of a great wedding!

And a HUGE thank you goes out to this man...

Our Papa! Thank you for letting us use your farm for the wedding. It was the perfect place! We couldn't have created this in a more beautiful setting. Love you Papa!

For their wedding we had 2 first looks! One with just Anna and Michael, and the 2nd with Anna's two daughters, Annaston & Lydia too. I've never done a First Look with a family before and it was so sweet and special, I highly recommend it to anyone who is blending a family!

I've been waiting {im}patiently for the Style Me Pretty feature to run so that I can share with you the beautiful short and all of the amazing details of this very special day...

My sister married her love on May 14th, and I am so excited to finally be able to share with you their breathtaking photos from Shannon Walker! I'm going to start with the beautiful details of their day...
There is a Whimsical, Vintage feeling evoked in every detail, and being held on our Papa's farm it is infused with Southern goodness!

Kaylen Revels and Patrick Lewis were married on Saturday in a sweet ceremony at Covenant Presbyterian Church. The reception followed in fabulous style at the Clinton Presidential Library where guests danced the night away!
